Getting Into Yoga – Finally!

Written by Oprah Fangirl on November 6th, 2008 in Tyra Banks.

I’m usually late to the game when it comes to new fitness routines and activities, which is probably why I’ve waited so long to try yoga. I was watching an old Tyra rerun the other day, in which she featured Big Apple Power Yoga and I thought – what the heck, it’s time for me to give this stuff a try! After all, I made a promise to myself to give it a shot after revealing my crush on Rodney Yee last year.

For anyone else who hasn’t jumped on the yoga bandwagon yet, a good way to learn some poses before you go to class and make a fool of yourself (like I undoubtedly will anyway) is this handy little widget a friend on Facebook sent me:

Watch Out for Melamine Tainted Candy This Halloween!

Written by Oprah Fangirl on October 28th, 2008 in Wayward Thoughts.

I just saw a television news report about another candy recall. This stuff has got to stop! How many times are we going to import food (for our pets OR our children!) contaminated with melamine from China? How much longer are we going to allow US companies to import lead-tainted toys from China? How much longer are we going to have a government that preaches “National security” and yet fails to inspect the many thousands of shipping containers arriving in our ports every single day? Did You Have a Past Life?

Written by Oprah Fangirl on October 10th, 2008 in Wayward Thoughts.

Past Life RegressionDid you have a past life? What about a “life between lives” ? Two things I’ve become very interested in lately are regression therapy (past life regression through hypnosis or hypnotherapy) and between lives regression (BLR). Do I honestly think that I’ve had past lives? Yes and No. Read the rest of this entry »

Online Dating Commercials on Television Are Driving Me Nutz

Written by Oprah Fangirl on August 12th, 2008 in Wayward Thoughts.

One thing you see all the bloody time on daytime TV are commercials for online dating websites (they save the phone sex stuff for night-time television). They seem to think anyone watching television between the hours of 8am and 4pm are lonely and in need of a date. Some of us have night jobs. Some of us are happily married, thank you very much. Is anyone else tired of seeing these commercials?

eHarmony, Match.com, Perfectmatch… all promising that their matching process is just a little more advanced than the other ones. But how much of this is true and how much is just hype and marketing? Is eHarmony really any better at matching you with a potential spouse than Match.com, which seems to go after people who aren’t looking to get quite as serious so quickly? While scouring the web in search of the answer to this question, I found this Review of The Best Online Dating Websites from Compare The Brands. I don’t want to spoil the fun, so go over and find out for yourself. Let’s just say that sometimes the more expensive option isn’t always the best.
