Online Dating Commercials on Television Are Driving Me Nutz

Written by Oprah Fangirl on Tuesday, August 12th, 2008 in Wayward Thoughts.

One thing you see all the bloody time on daytime TV are commercials for online dating websites (they save the phone sex stuff for night-time television). They seem to think anyone watching television between the hours of 8am and 4pm are lonely and in need of a date. Some of us have night jobs. Some of us are happily married, thank you very much. Is anyone else tired of seeing these commercials?

eHarmony, Match.com, Perfectmatch… all promising that their matching process is just a little more advanced than the other ones. But how much of this is true and how much is just hype and marketing? Is eHarmony really any better at matching you with a potential spouse than Match.com, which seems to go after people who aren’t looking to get quite as serious so quickly? While scouring the web in search of the answer to this question, I found this Review of The Best Online Dating Websites from Compare The Brands. I don’t want to spoil the fun, so go over and find out for yourself. Let’s just say that sometimes the more expensive option isn’t always the best.

Summer Fitness Fashion Ideas

Written by Oprah Fangirl on Monday, May 12th, 2008 in Wayward Thoughts.

Spring is here and Summer is right around the corner. It’s time to put away the fleece sweat pants and slip into something cooler. Here are some links to websites where you can get great Summer fitness fashion ideas:

  • Cool Summer Workout Duds
  • Stuff Lime Likes
  • Food, Fitness and Fashion
  • NzGirl Summer Fitness Fashions
  • Summer Fitness on iVillage
  • CBS News on Summer Fashions
  • A to Z Yoga
  • It’s a good thing I’ll be getting a $600 check from the government this month. It’s my “duty” as an American citizen to spend that on a new summer workout wardrobe isn’t it? ;-P

The Sexiest Man in Mixed Martial Arts

Written by Oprah Fangirl on Monday, April 21st, 2008 in Wayward Thoughts.

I’m not sure how many of you watch MMA, but my husband got me into it and for the first time I’m actually finding myself getting excited about watching a sport. But mixed martial arts isn’t just any sport. It’s raw in some ways and intillectual in others. Once you find out what they are doing all pretzeled up like that it gets very interested – sort of like a dangerous game of chess.

Still not sold on MMA? Well maybe a look at Georges St. Pierre – the sexiest man in mixed martial arts – will change your mind about that… (more…)

    My Toot for Tuesday

Written by Oprah Fangirl on Tuesday, February 26th, 2008 in Wayward Thoughts.

I just joined the Mommy Blogger community and they have this thing where every Tuesday members get to “toot their own horn” and post about something they have accomplished. Since I don’t post as much as I should, I probably won’t be joining every Tuesday (otherwise it would see like every other post was about me. And that would be pretty boring…) but I thought I would join in this one and give it a Tuesday Toot:

This week I began learning about solar panel technology and enrolled into a course at the Solar Living Institute for next month. Toooot Tooot!
