Montel Williams on the T.A.K.E.
Written by Oprah Fangirl on Thursday, March 8th, 2007 in Montel Williams.
Today on Montel, we meet victims who have become vigilantes in their quest for justice. One of the guests is Roger, the father of Ali Kemp, an unfortunate victim of a murder in Johnson County, Kansas. Roger used billboard campaigns to help track down his daughter’s killer, and now works to prevent the same thing from happening to other young women.
Dedicated to the memory of Alexandra “Ali” Kemp, The Ali Kemp Educational (TAKE) Foundation provides defense training to girls and young women. Their motto is: You Have It in You.
Participants learn the basics of self-defense, in addition to awareness education. The programs goal is to build self-confidence and empower young women.
So far the T.A.K.E. Foundation has educated more than 8,000 women in self defense. I think this is a fantastic program, but I am a little confused as to how those outside of Kansas City can T.A.K.E. advantage of the classes. We suggest you contact TAKE and ask about self defense programs in your area. They may know of some to suggest. In the meantime, the TAKE Foundation has provided a few tips of how to protect yourself.
After watching the show, all I can say is WAY TO GO! My hat goes off to the victims and family members of victims who don’t give up until the twisted people who commit sick crimes like rape and murder are put behind bars. If I had my way, every man who rapes a woman (or girl) would have his private parts cut off and fed to sharks while he watched. Ok, I’m getting a little emotional. Time to stop the blogging for today.
